“At the Threshold” is about a moment I think many of us know — standing between what was and what is still unknown. I painted this work as a quiet reflection on letting go, not as a dramatic act, but as something slow and deeply human.
For me, this person represents a moment of pause. I wanted to express that feeling of hesitation — the inner state when you do not yet know whether to hold on to what is familiar or take a step into the unknown. The tree feels like a silent presence, something grounded and enduring that remains while everything else begins to change. There is solitude in this painting, but also a sense of calm.
As part of “The Geometry of Letting Go” series, this painting reflects my thoughts about change, memory, and the quiet inner spaces we move through when we begin to release what no longer belongs to us.
The work was also presented in the exhibition “Mensch. Raum. Zeit.”, which explored the relationship between human beings, space, and time as emotional and existential dimensions of experience.
